Fadly Rahman


Fadly Rahman was born in Bogor, November 27th 1981. He works as a historian majoring on food history and teaches at History and Philology Department at Padjadjaran University. His published books include Rijsttafel: Budaya Kuliner di Indonesia Masa Kolonial, 1870-1942 (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2011 & 2016) and Jejak Rasa Nusantara: Sejarah Makanan Indonesia (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2016). In 2018, Jejak Rasa Nusantara: Sejarah Makanan Indonesia became a nominee of world’s best book at Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Yantai, China, for the category of Culinary History.

He is often involved as a contributor for culinary books, including the work of English gastronome, Sri Owen, Indonesian Food (London, Annova Publisher 2009); working together with Koo Siu Ling and Paul Freedman on book titled Culture, Cuisine, Cooking: An East Java Peranakan Memoir (Amsterdam, Lecturis Publisher 2015); and in some of the works from Prof. Murdijati Gardjito, an expert in food technology from Gadjah Mada University. He has received several awards on his writing related to food security and Indonesian culinary.
